It was quite a cloudburst. I think we got at least 2 inches of rain in 15 minutes. A lot of places were flooded. Normally it's a 5 minutes drive from work to home... but today it took me almost an hour... several streets were not passable... well... I did drive around a little bit to check out the creeks near by. I've been working on the watershed plan for Soldier Creek here in town. So this is a really good opportunity to see how the creek and the storm sewer system are doing. Apparently not too well in some areas. I didn't have camera with me though... what a bummer.
I am going to see Indy 500 with my boss and his brothers this Friday. Actually I think it's the time trial.. .not quite sure. It'll be fun. A lot of beer... I was told.
And Saturday I am heading to San Jose, CA to see my friends... and we are going to Yosemite for the weekend. Can't wait!

breakin?
I am so angry... partly at myself. I think there had been an attempted breakin to my car. I found scratch marks on the passenger door and a little piece of the black foam seal around the back window was torn off. I kept thinking about when it could have happened... and I haven't had the slightest idea. I was so distracted and deep in thought about the whole thing that I spilled the whole cup of latte at the coffee shop earlier this evening.
I have to be really careful next time, making sure not to leave anything valuable in plain sight inside the car. This is why I am mad at myself as well.
Not a happy day for me...

THREE NOTES GO INTO A BAR
C, E-flat, and G go into a bar. The bartender says, "Sorry, but we don't serve minors." So the E-flat leaves, and the C and the G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished; the G is out flat.
An F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough. A D comes into the bar and heads straight for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me. I'll just be a second." An A comes into the bar, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor.
Then the bartender notices a B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and exclaims, "Get out now! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight."
The E-flat, not easily deflated, comes back to the bar the next night in a 3-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says: "You're looking sharp tonight, come on in! This could be a major development." This proves to be the case, as the E-flat takes off the suit, and everything else, and stands there au naturel.
Eventually, the C sobers up, and realizes in horror that he's under a rest.
The C is brought to trial, is found guilty of contributing to the diminution of a minor, and is sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at an upscale correctional facility.
On appeal, however, the C is found innocent of any wrongdoing, even accidental, and that all accusations to the contrary are bassless.
The bartender decides he needs a rest - and closes the bar.

Happy Mother's Day
Mom... thanks for being my mom. Yes, you can be difficult to deal with some times... you get angry... you get mad... your mood can swing wildly... you are demanding... Yet, you are my mother. I have no choice. I can't go shop for another mother. I have told you so. And you laughed. You liked my honesty. I love you, mom. I won't be who I am today without your constant support and encouragement. You would give up everything for sister and I. I am ashamed that I could not have done the same in return to you. I wish I could have been a better son than I was. May be I was not that bad, was I? Happy Mother's Day... to you. Again, thanks for being my dearest mom.

Barbershop
Our barbershop chorus had the first show ever last Saturday. It was a great success. Over 400 people came to see our show and nearly filled up the entire high school auditorium. It was fun, fun to perform again in front of a great audience. We invited the chapter from Bloomington to sing with us. They were great... much better than we were. I hope our chapter will grow bigger and get better very soon.
