Thoughts

Helped Jennie move yesterday. Looking at a picture of her and Jason, for a moment, I thought I saw myself in that picture in the place of Jason. I talked to Jason. I asked him to be patient with Jennie, to ride out each storm with her by her side... no matter how bad the situation gets... never leave her by herself during the lows of her emotional rollercoaster. I told him, believe it or not, she needs him most when she is most angry and unreasonable. Leaving her to deal with her own emotion will only make her more scared and insecure. The cycle goes on. I wasn't able to do the right things when I was with her. I hope Jason will learn to do so and to provide what I couldn't have provided for her. I really want them to work out. I care about Jennie and I want the best for her and her baby.

Is the happiness the only thing we strive for and care about in a relationship? I watched a TV program by RTHK last night (yes, I am finally subscribing to the chinese channels on direct TV). In it, several young people (who are college students) were interviewed for their views on relationships. One thing they mentioned which struck deep in my mind was that they think there is no guarantee in a relationship and that happiness "at this moment" is the most important thing in a relationship. But that is it? Happiness? Most important? I dunno. I refuse to believe that is the case. There is got to be more than that.

On a grander scale, is happiness what life is all about? Our life is simply a quest for or a pursuit of happiness. I dunno. I refuse to believe that is the case. There is got to be more than that.

My parents will arrive tomorrow. They will stay with me till X'mas. Most people were bewildered when I told them that my parents will be staying for so long. I joked that at least I would be well-fed.

Commute

I rode my new bike to and from work today. It was fun and I finally got my needed exercise. The trip was surprisingly short... only took about 15-20 mins. Oh... a little over 3 miles each way. The only bad thing is that by the time I got to work, I was all sweaty.

soulmate

You don't always marry your soulmate.
Heard this on TV tonight. Is that true? I can't imagine how it can be called a marriage if your wife or husband is not your soulmate. So marriage is simply a way to procreate? But to procreate doesn't necessarily need to be married. I don't get it.

New bike

I bought a bicycle at a local bike shop... yeah! Trek 7.3 FX. Will take them several days to put it together. Can't wait... I'll be riding to work everyday!

Saturday morning

Aching body from yesterday's physical labor when I woke up this morning. Went to the Farmer's market at downtown Kankakee. A bit disappointed. Only a handful of stalls and only one was selling locally grown produce. I got a quart of strawberries and a bunch of asparagus.

Then I headed to a local bike shop. I've been thinking about getting a bike for a while. It'll be nice to ride my bike to work every day. Save some gas and better the environment! Anyway, the salesman was really knowledgeable. I guess $400-500 will be money good spent. Kinda on the expensive side. Need some time to think about it.

Lake Michigan

Got a day off today, sort of. I drove up to Miller Beach, IN to help my boss' brother landscaping his new house. Five of us put in 91 pots of plants in, oh, 5 hours. Not bad at all. We then took a dip at the beach. It was a hot day and the sand was scorchingly hot. The water was nice and cold though... maybe a bit too cold. Hit the bar with my boss and his older brother afterwards. I am now really really tired. Should have a good sleep tonight.

Bridal Veil Fall

Went to Target over lunch time to pick up the pictures. Hmm... they turned out ok. At least some of them did. Took me a while to figure out how to use the scanner at work to scan in the negative. Each picture takes forever. Anyway... I only had time to scan several. This is one of them.

Trip to Cali

It was a good trip. Got to see my good friend and her husband. We made a trip to Yosemite National Park with a couple other friends of her. Yosemite was really pretty. We were fortunate that it rained quite a bit a week b4; the streams were raging and waterfalls were just magnificent. I shot 7 rolls of films. (Thanks Ces for her camera and for arranging the trip.) I will post some pictures once I get them back. Yosemite remained me of 世外桃源...

I got back Tuesday night... actually Wednesday morning around 2. The flight got delayed. I slept for 10+ hours last night. I still haven't recovered from the trip. Haha...
