quartet and dentist

Our quartet did a show at a local veteran's home Wednesday night. The show went real well except that I screwed up the last song--Traditional Blessings--couldn't quite hit the highest note in the song. I guess my voice was almost gone by the end. This is the first real on-our-own show we did by our quartet. Actually the Lead was sick and our chorus director substituted.

It was good to sing to the old folks. Think quite a few of them have Alzheimer's. They seemed really out of it in the beginning. Some had eyes closed. Some were mumbling. Some were dazed. But the most amazing thing was that once we started singing, you could see them reacting and responding to the music. Some were singing along even with their eyes closed. Some started to pay really close attention. I even saw tears streaming down one guy's shut eyes. The songs were the ones that were familiar with. The songs reminded them of the old days and things that they still remember. To me, those were very touching moments.

Had a dentist appointment this morning. Haven't had one for at least 2 years. I was so worried that the doctor was going to say that all my teeth were rotting away. But it turned out ok. Will need to have some work done on a couple of molars next month. Other than that, everything was good. I got strong bone structure and fairly good teeth. Not susceptible to decay. The doctor suggested to take out a couple of wisdom teeth. Oh well... not so sure about that. I'll make an appointment with an oral surgeon and see. I was really really impressed by the hygienist. She was so good... and gentle. Not hurting one bit and My gum didn't bleed at all. Just amazing. Never had one as good as her. I am happy as a clam today.

JC, make sure you find a good (really good) reference from your dentist's clients. My experience from the operations (all 4 were taken out in one attempt) was unbelievably pleasant and good! ;) good luck... -WittyBB

Hey there Jack! My mom has had to have a couple of crowns over the past few years, and she just looooooves her oral surgeon. I think he was the one who also took out her wisdom teeth when she was around 45 or 50 (no easy task, I'm sure!) I believe his last name is Varone, but I'm sure she'd be happy to tell you for sure.

Thanks Wittybb and Nicole.
I'll make sure I get a good oral surgeon. I may not do it this year though... May wait till next year when the dental insurance rolls over so that I don't have to pay as much.
