Pictures

I finally took some pictures as I promised a long while ago. On the right is my townhouse apartment. It's got a garage at the back. I love my apartment. It's quiet and cozy.

Also went out for a walk in the afternoon. A park by the river, quite close to where I live. It has a nice prairie. The weather has been unseasonably warm lately and been raining a lot. But today was great. The sun was out and the sky was blue.

Any idea what this plant is? Very odd looking. Got some cotton like stuff in its fruit. I'll have to consult my ecologist colleague at work. (My colleague said this is a milk weed.)

I think this is called the indian caves. Water cuts throught the sandstone and upstream of this little waterfall has some very nice formation with deep gouges.

Kankakee River... I heard the smallmouth bass fishing is pretty good in this river. I have to try my luck in the spring time.

Nice! The Indian Cave looks interesting. (How far are you from Chicago again? This looks very different than what I have imagined your living area will be like.)

Thanks~ I'll take some more pictures when I have time. Where I live is about an hour south of Chicago. Really, there's not much going on around town. The town itself is quite old (I should say town"s" because 3 cities kinda sit side by side) and really in need of some renovation and development. When I take some downtown Kankakee shots next time, you'll understand what I mean. One thing though, the river is really nice. Quite a bit of nature areas close by.

I saw lots of the milkweed in the priaries out west is Missouri too. The material inside really is alot like cotton.

Wow, those are beautiful pictures. What a nice place to live, so close to the nature. Kinda reminds me about the little town I lived in while I was in high school, where one can walk across downtown in 5 minutes and the best after-school activity is sitting by the lake watching the swans and geese.

When summer comes, I will spend more time outdoor. Yeah, it is great to be close to nature.
